In a recent post, we gave you a complete lowdown of what the metaverse is, but we never told you what to do once you get here. And like all new adventures, navigating through the metaverse for the first time can be a daunting experience.

So we’re stepping in to help. We know this melting pot for creativity can be overwhelming for newcomers. So to help, we’ve created our own miniature travel guide for enjoying your first few trips into the digital world.

Staying safe

First and foremost, our gamers’ safety is the most important thing and should never be compromised. But safe gaming comes under many guises. From identity safety to combatting online abuse — the dangers of gaming mustn’t be ignored.

Although the vast majority of players are here for the right reasons, we can’t overlook the minority that seek to have a negative impact on the user experience of others.

In another recent piece, we focussed on some of the specific tips for safe gaming. Scammers won’t always go straight in for the kill by asking for bank details, and while requesting an email address or password may seem like a fairly innocent alternative — it never is. It’s something we wouldn’t ever ask you for and you should never share it with anyone else either.

Immerse yourself

As with every experience, there are a mixture of ups and downs. And although we might be slightly biased, the pros of the digital world definitely outweigh the cons! The ability to personalise a world which eventually becomes symbiotic with the so-called ‘real one’ is a totally unique journey.

For prospective gamers, the motivations behind joining our world are varied — that’s what makes each experience so special. Even within the same game, players have different reasons for entering the new world.

While it would be irresponsible of us to suggest how long our users should spend playing, our advice is simple: to have the most fulfilling gaming experience possible, make sure you lose yourself in whatever game you choose — you’ll never look back!

Find your connections

The beauty of the metaverse is its ability to coexist alongside the things (and the people) that mean the most to us. The days of gaming being a completely isolated experience are long gone. Not only can our world be enjoyed alongside the non-digital one — it can become a crucial part of it.

So, whether your other interests include fashion or music (or anything else!) — the metaverse can become the perfect extension of your favourite pastime, as opposed to being separate from it.

It’s something we’ve shown ourselves to be capable of time and time again. And while we’re always happy to be at the forefront of what we believe is right, it’s always nice to see other gaming companies follow our lead!
